And I find myself here on my knees again. Caught up in grace like an avalanche. Noting compares to his love, love, love…burning in my heart.
Take my life, take all that I am. With all that I am I will love You. Take my heart, take all that I have. Take my heart, take all that I have. Jesus, how I adore you
Such a beautiful song.

First Week of Classes

Sunday evening my anticipation level for the Spring semester was unmeasurable. I am finally done with all of my core classes, except for Spanish. I am delving into classes that pertain to my concentration - Public Relations. My professors are already referencing Honey Boo Boo Child and retweeting Extra Grumpy Cat. I think this will be a phenomenal and intriguing semester.

Also, I am embarking on numerous opportunities that could impact my future significantly. Right before the break, I interviewed for a spot on my college’s newspaper staff and I was selected to be the Spotlight Editor.

I have already conducted my first interview with a group of student who created a group called “As We Go”. Over the Christmas break, 32 college students walked 70 miles over the course of 4 days from UGA to Atlanta. They raised over $2,400 to be donated to the organization Night Light, which helps bring an end to sex trafficking in Atlanta. I cannot wait to finish writing this story that will be featured in the first issue of The Colonnade.

Today, I attended my first staff pitch meeting. The excitement overtook my nervousness. Everyone  on the staff is extremely passionate about the paper and are awesome individuals. This semester looks very promising.

As The Year Comes To An End

At the end of each year, I think it is crucial to look back on the events that occupied my time. I like to reflect on the moments that made me ecstatic, made me weep, and the ones that slipped by unnoticed. You cannot move forward without acknowledging the past.

My Moments From 2012

  • I met new people, several who turned out to be really good friends
  • My first article was published in my college’s student newspaper
  • I realized that a dream was not perfect in reality
  • I realized the importance of a father-daughter relationship during a road trip to Tennessee
  • I turned 21 and adulthood became a reality
  • I realized that my small hometown was not as atrocious as I had believed my whole life
  • I created a twitter and a blog
  • I made Dean’s List
  • I voted in my first presidential election, helping to re-elect Barack Obama
  • I was selected as Spotlight Editor for my college’s student newspaper
  • I was hired for my first job that I landed completely on my own, without my parent’s name helping me
